Classes

BIRDS OF THE TRUCKEE MEADOWS CLASSES

The popular Birds of the Truckee Meadows bird identification classes are an excellent opportunity for new birders to learn from some of the area’s experts and a great refresher for seasoned birders.  These classes are offered in the spring.

Learn how to tell a kestrel from a buteo, a sparrow from a jay, AND WHAT THE HECK ARE THE BIRDS IN THAT PHOTO?

All our Bird Class teachers are accomplished birders and a friendly group of volunteers.

Adult Workshops

Throughout the year we usually offer several workshops for the public in addition to our popular Birds of the Truckee Meadows classes. Our growing collection of bird taxidermy mounts allows us to offer programs geared to specific groups of birds.  Many of these free talks are given at the Galena Creek Visitor Center off Mount Rose Highway.  Examples include:

  • How to Identify Hawks of Nevada

  • How to Identify Owls of Nevada

  • Winter Birds of the Galena Forest

  • Summer Birds of the Galena Forest
