Volunteer Opportunities

Northwest Nevada Bird Alliance relies on volunteers to accomplish our mission and engage the community in educational and conservation programs for birds and other wildlife. Thank you, volunteers!​

​Volunteer Opportunities:

  • Leading guided bird walks and other field trips

  • Leading educational programs for youth and adults

  • Supporting and developing various projects 

  • Leading and supporting conservation and restoration efforts

  • Administrative support and Board membership

  • Community science and monitoring


Volunteering is one of the most rewarding ways to help birds and wildlife, gain experience, and to make new friends.  LAS provides many opportunities to give back to wildlife at all different levels within the organization​.

 

If you or someone you know might be a good fit, please contact us or fill out the volunteer interest form. 

We are flexible and willing to find the best fit for each person based on their interests and skills. We also always welcome new ideas for programs and opportunities to reach new and existing members.

Our Committees:

  • The Activity and Program Committee plans the monthly Program Meetings as well as other special NNBA events. 

  • The Audit Committee checks Lahontan Audubon Society's financial records for accuracy and reports results to the Board.  

  • The Communications Committee oversees public outreach through our website, social media, newsletter, and emails.  

  • The Conservation Committee advocates on behalf of birds and bird habitat in Nevada for environmental legislation, policies, and proposed actions and engages in community science projects affecting Nevada’s birds. 

  • The Education Committee schedules and runs educational outreach events to teach kids and adults about birds, with a focus on northern Nevada birds. 

  • The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee promotes practices to foster a welcoming and inclusive community for all people.

  • The Field Trip Committee organizes local bird walks and other field trip events.

  • The Fundraising Committee organizes fundraising activities to help NNBA's operations and local conservation and education programs. 

  • The Investments Committee manages, through financial advisors, the investment accounts of the NNBA.

  • The Nominations Committee nominates individuals who are members of NNBA for Trustee positions to be elected each May.
