About the event
Avian Wonders of the Andes - Northern Ecuador Tour Oct. 1-13 with Flyway Birding Tours
Ecuador is one of the most bird-rich countries on Earth, with close to 1,700 species recorded. Its compact geography allows easy access to cloud forests, Andean Páramo, and Amazonian Foothills, each offering distinct bird communities. This special Northwest Nevada Bird Alliance program combines focused birding with regional context. Participants will visit key reserves and national parks, engage with local partners, and examine how ecology and geography shape bird communities. The program balances field experience with a clear understanding of current conservation challenges. Over several days, we will explore reserves that have become landmarks in Neotropical Birding - Mashpi Amagusa, Silanche Road, Ángel Paz Reguge, Tandayapa Valley, Guango Lodge, Guacamayos Ridge, Loreto Road, Cascada Hollín, San Isidro Lodge, Antisana Reserve, and more! This tour includes opportunities to see a wide array of species, including iconic birds like the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Andean Condor, antpittas, mountain toucans and many more!
