Description:
The Brown's Creek Trail allows access to the Davis Fire burn scar of September 2024. It is a great location to see our local forest birds including a variety of sparrows, finches, and woodpeckers. We will be hiking into the burn scar in search of two post-fire adapted species that have been seen in the area over the past year, Black-backed Woodpecker and Lawrence's Goldfinch. Both can be elusive, but with some luck we can locate them. This hike will be up to 4 miles round trip to reach the best habitat for our two target species. Due to the fire, there is little shade on the trails, so make sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and a hat. Please also wear hiking boots or sturdy shoes. We may venture slightly off the trail if necessary.
