Damonte Ranch Community ONLY - Bird Walk
Date/Time: Saturday, May 23, 2026, 9:00 am (~3 hrs)
Leader: Amanda Pertsch
Difficulty: Easy, 3 miles on level paved path
Description:
The variety of trees, lakes, marshes, grass and urban environments at Damonte Wetlands are home to many different types of birds! We'll be doing a 3 mile loop on a flat, paved path. It’s spring, so now is a great time to observe their fun behaviors!
We should expect to see lots of Red-winged Blackbirds, as well as several other types of songbirds, like sparrows, wrens, phoebes, swallows and warblers. We’ll also get to see hawks and Kestrels. There are a large variety of shorebirds, wading birds and waterfowl as well, including temporary visitors such as Avocets and Stilts. Some other fun birds we might see include Yellow-headed Blackbirds, Meadowlarks, Kingbirds and Rail.
