Let's Go Birding Together Halloween

Difficulty: Easy 1 mile on some uneven paved trails.

Description:

Please join the Northwest Nevada Bird Alliance for a community bird walk in costume at Rancho San Rafael Park!

We will identify a variety of waterfowl, songbirds, and raptors that call this place home. This walk is open to people of all identities and all levels of birding (beginner, advanced etc.). Specifically, this walk welcomes members of the LGBTQIA+ community, allies, and family members who want to enjoy the outdoors together. We recognize that members of the LGBTQIA+ community have been historically excluded and underrepresented in birding and the outdoors. We want to change this and create a welcoming place where people of all identities can feel they belong.

In spirit of Halloween, please feel free to dress up in costume! It is not mandatory, but highly encouraged! 

Along the walk, we will spend time picking up trash along the park. Please bring gloves if you have them. Trash bags will be provided. Let's show solidarity with the River Justice movement, respect our downstream neighbors, and help make our cherished birding spots safe and clean for the wildlife we love!

Meeting Location: We will be meeting in the parking lot by the Wilbur D. May Museum.

Binoculars will be provided!

About Jaida: Jaida is a UNR alumnus with a degree in Biology and a minor in Analytical Chemistry. Hobbies include baking, writing, insects, and birding. Jaida has experience in environmental restoration and conservation and hopes to continue in that line of work in the future!
