Lockwood Park Field Trip
Difficulty: An easy short walk with a round trip distance of about 1 mile.

When: Saturday, September 19, 2026, 8:00 am (~2 hrs).
Description:
We'll be walking the trail at Lockwood Park along the Truckee River east of Sparks. The riparian forest habitat along the river is a great location to see migrating warblers, vireos, tanagers, and flycatchers. We will also be looking for species we expect to see along the river such as Black Phoebe, Belted Kingfisher, Osprey, and a variety of swallows. Make sure to bring binoculars, water, sunscreen, and a hat. Please also wear sturdy footwear. We may venture slightly off the trail if necessary to view birds.
About Larry: Larry is an avid local birder that participates in our local Christmas Bird Counts. He is Northwest Nevada Bird Alliance's newest Board member! He has been birding in the Reno area for over 20 years.
