About the event
Every year Great Basin Bird Observatory (GBBO) hosts the Nevada Bird-a-thon
fundraiser. It works like a Walk-a-thon, where participants collect pledges, but in a Bird-
a-thon, participants collect pledges for the birds they see! The Great Basin Bird
Observatory has been conducting bird research in the Great Basin and surrounding
areas since 1997. Donations from fundraisers like the Bird-a-thon support our outreach
efforts to connect the public with bird science and research. In this presentation, Ned
Bohman, GBBO’s Outreach Coordinator will talk about what the Bird-a-thon is, how it
works, how you can participate, and what GBBO has done with the funds raised in the
years since the first Bird-a-thon in 2020.
