Description:
Join the Northwest Nevada Bird Alliance for a morning of birding by bike along one of Reno's most scenic corridors! This 17.4-mile guided ride follows the Truckee River from Mayberry Park through the Oxbow Nature Study Area, then loops north to Rancho San Rafael Regional Park — covering riparian woodland, wetlands, and open meadow in a single outing. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for Belted Kingfisher, Osprey, Great Blue Heron, warblers, and soaring raptors. A shorter turnaround option at Oxbow (~9 miles) is available for those who prefer a more relaxed pace. Bring your binoculars, a snack, and a sense of adventure — all skill levels welcome. Estimated total time: 4.5–5.5 hours (including birding stops).
Recommended equipment:
Bike in good working condition
Bike helmet (required)
Front and rear lights for bike
Binoculars
1 L water
Snacks
Rain jacket
