This is an out and back walk along the West Fork of the Carson River in Douglas County. On this walk we have found hundreds of Ibis as well as Bald Eagles and other Hawks.

Date/Time: Friday, May 22, 2026, 7:00 am (~3 hrs)

Leader: Jeff Bleam

Difficulty: Douglas County - 4 mi Easy - level dirt trail. 

Description:

This is an out and back walk along the West Fork of the Carson River in Douglas County.  We should find Geese and possibly young, some Duck, Grebes, maybe Sandpipers, Woodpeckers, Kinglets, Raptors, Sparrows, and Finches.  This is the time of year for Flycatchers like Kingbirds, Orioles, Phoebes, also Blackbirds, Yellowthroat, a few Warblers, and we usually find Sandhill Cranes.  On this walk we have found hundreds of Ibis as well as Bald Eagles and other Hawks.
