Pelican's Prized Page — Summer & Fall 2026
Backyard Birding on Film
Photos by Hannah Cardwell The black-and-white photos below were captured by Hannah in her garden this summer — a space she says is "almost entirely for the birds at this point."
Silver State Snapshots
Photos by John and Pat King
The photos below were captured by John and Pat during their summer camping adventure through several parks and wildlife refuges across northern and central Nevada.
Specific locations are labeled beneath each photo.

"My wife and I were walking our dog along the wetlands path off Carat Avenue when we spotted this guy from 50 yards away. I started taking photos with my iPhone. This was taken from about 10 yards away. A moment later he flew off. It was a rare and fun encounter," says Jerry.
Do you have bird or wildlife photography, paintings, poems, or other artwork to share? We would love to feature it in the next issue of the Pelican's Prized Page!
